Abstract: |
A seasonal survey was carried out on intertidal meiofauna and its sedimentary environment in the sandy beach of Jinshatan, Dalian in 2015 and 2016. The spatio-temporal distribution of meiofaunal abundance, biomass and the community structure were studied and the influencing environmental factors were analyzed. The results showed that the main components of the sediment were VCS (very coarse sand) and CS (coarse sand). The annual average content of Chl-ɑ was 0.99±1.44 μg/g. The annual average organic matter content was 0.38±0.56 %. A total of 15 meiofauna groups were identified. The most dominant groups were nematode and copepoda, accounting for 72.82 % of the total abundance. The average meiofauna abundance and biomass were 425.18±429.10 ind?10cm-2 and 870.04±853.18 μg?dwt?10cm-2, respectively. The meiofaunal abundance differed seasonally, ranked as spring > autumn > summer > winter. The meiofaunal abundance also varied horizontally, ranked as high tide zone > middle tide zone > low tide zone. The meiofaunal biomass varied seasonally, ranked as autumn > summer > spring > winter, the difference among tidal zones was also significant. There was significant seasonal difference of meiofauna community. The combination of interstitial water salinity, coarse sand content and organic matter content could best explain the temporal and spatial distribution of meiofauna community structure according to the BIOENV analysis. The results can provide basic data for further research on interstitial meiofauna and also provide scientific basis for the protection, exploitation and utilization of sandy intertidal zones under the background of global climate change. |
