Abstract:
The environmental pollution in Qingdao is becoming more and more serious in recent years. However, atmospheric particulates which are the main pollutants are still lack of systematic study on its mineral composition and sources. Therefore, we collected the total suspended particles in the spring of 2016, and study the detrital minerals and clay minerals. Furthermore, we analyze the sources and genesis of these particulate matters. The results of X-ray diffraction analysis show that there are significant differences in the mineral composition of atmospheric dust between two different air quality types. Through the analysis of clay minerals collected from the poor air quality, four main clay minerals, illite, smectite, chlorite and kaolinite, are identified. According to the triangular plot of smectite-illite-kaolinite, Asian dust storm prediction model and Hybrid Single Particle Lagran-gian Integrated Trajectory Model, we argue that the sources of these particles in the poor air quality mainly come from the arid Asian interior(48.3%) and the vicinity of Qingdao(51.7%). The backward trajectory analysis based on Hybrid Single Particle Lagran-gian Integrated Trajectory Model, we argue that not only these particles collected in good air quality are from the arid Asian interior (34.43%) and the vicinity of Qingdao(42.62%), but also there are sea-salt particles which are transported from the southeast of Qingdao(22.95%).
