南黄海冷涡沉积和通道沉积的发现

摘要:
为解决南黄海及东海北部的沉积环境和物质来源问题,1992年5月对黄海和济州岛西南的泥质沉积进行了多方面调查和研究,发现济州岛西南、南黄海中部和北黄海西部泥质沉积区,分别与那里的冷涡活动区相对应。因此,这些泥质沉积应属于“冷涡沉积”;而在冷涡之间又出现连接它们的“通道”,形成了具有特殊结构的“通道沉积”,它分布于黄海暖流之下,呈南北向延伸。表明冷涡沉积和通道沉积是受控于冷涡、黄海暖流及其相关的环流体系。

DISCOVERY OF HOLOCENE CYCLONIC EDDY SEDIMENT AND PATHWAY SEDIMENT IN THE SOUTHERN YELLOW SEA

Abstract:
Three mud patches exist in the southwest of Cheju Island, in the central part of the southern Yellow Sea and the Western part of the northern Yellow Sea. Marine sedimentology investigations on the mud patches in the central part of southern Yellow Sea and southwest of Cheju Island were conducted in May of 1992. One hundred and eighty seven surface sediment samples and eighteen core samples were collected. Multiple studies were made to understand on the sedimentary environments and the source of materials included analyses of sediment grain sizes, mineral content, chemical composition and, and so on. It was found that the existence of the mud sediment is correlated with cyclonic eddy activities. Therefore, the three mud patches should be considered as “cyclonic eddy sediments". Among the cyclonic eddies are pathways of warm current below which “pathway sediments" with distinctive characteristics have been deposited. The three mud patches and the pathway sediments among them are controlled by the Yellow Sea Warm Current and Cyclonic Eddy current Systems.
