LIU JIANKANG, A FAMOUS ICHTHYOLOGIST AND FRESHWATER ECOLOGIST
He was born on Sept. 1, 1917, in wujiang, Jiangsu Province. He graduated with u B. Sc. degree in 1938 from the Department of Biology, Soochow
University in Suzhou, Jiangsu, and was conferred 21 Ph. D. degree by the Graduate School of McGill University, Canada, in 1947. Elected Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1980. He has been the Honorary Director of the Institute of Hydrobiology, CAS since 1987, and at present is Vice president of the Chinese Society for Oceanology and Limnology, and Honorary President of the Hubei Association for Science and Technology. More than 60 of his papers have been published in domestic and foreign academic journals. |
