Abstract: |
The main organs of Perinereis aibuhitensis was observed in histology using dissection under light microscope. For the first time, the fine structure of chaeta, the histological characteristics of main organs, and the spatial arrangement in the abdomen cavity were studied. By histological staining, abundant capillaries in each pair of parapodia with several setae were revealed. The circulatory system is well-developed, containing a dorsal vessel, ventral vessel, and circular vessel, which is consistent with its evolutionary mechanism. Three types of muscle tissue (ring muscle, longitudinal muscle and oblique muscle) were classified and they cooperated with each other to realize the movement among wart feet, various body segments, and the entire body. The histological characteristics of digestive tract from front to back show the changes of muscle tissue and intestinal folds, indicating its evolutionary adaption in structure and function. The results of this study laid a foundation for more detail and systematic understanding of the biological characteristics of P. aibuhitensis, and provided a certain scientific basis for its artificial breeding and for environmental pollution monitoring. |
