THE INITIATION OF BED SEDIMENT MOTION UNDER THE JOINT ACTIONS OF WAVE AND CURRENT
Abstract:
This article presents the result of an investigation on the initiation of bed sediment motion under the joint actions of wave and current through both theoretical derivation and experimental observations, as a result of this investigation, a formula for initiating noncoh-esive sediment motion under the above conditions is proposed. Two empirical coefficients-the momentum propagation coefficient of current Cf, andthe momentum propagation coefficient of wave and current Cw are obtained from experimental data which have been processed by a two dimensional least-square algorithm program through computer analysis. The results compare favorably with Shields Surves.
