STUDIES ON GELIDIELLA ACEROSA AGAR REFINEMENT

Abstract:

This is the first time in using Gelidiella acerosa as the main material for the agar industry in China. Gelidiella acerosa is abundant in colloid, up to 40%. The crucial point in raising its output is acid treatment. In neutral water, the ratio of acid is 0.5-0.8%ml/ kg. The ratio of dry to wet Gelidiella acerosa is 1 : 3.5. The water used to made up the acid solution is 20 times that of the dry material, while that used to extract agar is 35-40 times that of the dry material.
