According to the specific environment in the Western North Pacific, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeooceanography, Palaeontology, steady isotope, Geomorphology and Geochronology methods are discussed in this paper and us to study theprocess of the changes of thechanges of the ocean current system in this region since 30,000 Y. B. P.. The development of the ocean current in the Western North Pacific Ocean is divided into 9 peroids: 1) The Yellow Sea Warm Current and Taiwan Warm Current were stronger than that at pressent, but the Tsushima Warm Current was very weak from 30,000 to 23,000 Y. B. P.. 2) The yellow Sea Warm Current, Taiwan Warm Current and Tsushima Warm Current disappeared, and the sea polar front of the North Pacific Ocean moved toward the low la-titute 10-12 degrees, located about 30 degree North. 3) The Oyashio Current came through the Tsugaru Straits into the Japen Sea about 13,000 Y. B. P.. 4) The Kuroshio moved toward the high latitute greatly about 10,000 Y. B. P.. 5) The Oyashio Current became stronger and moved toward the south during 9,000 to 8,000 Y, 3. P.. 6) The Tsushima warm Current flew into the Japan Sea about 8,000 Y. B. P.. The Yellow Sea Warm Current and Taiwan Warm Current formed at the same time. The water temperature of the Kuroshio from 8,000 to 6,500 Y. B. P. was 7-9° higher then that at present. 7) The warm current system was strongest in Holocene, the Yellow Sea Wa rm Current reached the Bohai Bay from 6.500 to 6,000 Y. B. P.. 8) The warm current system became weak during 6.000 to 5,000 Y. B. P.. 9) The ocean current system did not change greatly after 5,000 Y. B. P.. |
