The effect of feeding frequency on growth, digestive enzymes, immune enzyme and N budget of Litopenaeus vannamei
Abstract:
Effect of feeding frequency on growth characteristics, digestive enzymes, immune enzyme and nitrogen balance of Litopenaeus vannamei was studied. The results indicated that feeding frequency of L. vannamei was significantly effected by survival rate, growth rate, feed coefficient, the nitrogen balance and part of immune enzymes activity. The groups which were fed 5 times per day had higher survival rate, weight increasing rate and specific growth rate, and lower feed coefficient. Conic relationships were found between specific growth rate and feeding frequency. The maximum specific growth rate was obtained when they were fed 4.45 times per day. Feeding nitrogen, growth nitrogen and excretion of nitrogen and fecal nitrogen, reached the lowest when 2 times per day, and higher if 5 and 6 times per day. The high feeding frequency group got higher digestive enzymes and immune enzymes activity.
