Analysis of shell microstructure and five surface elements of Patinopecten yessoensis at different ages
Abstract:
In this study, Patinopecten yessoensis at different ages (5 months, 7 months, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months, and 30 months old) was investigated. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to observe the longitudinal section of different ages of shells given by cutting shells along the growth lines. The variation laws of shell structure in the process of growth and development were explored. The results showed that the shell microstructure consisted of homogeneous, foliated, crossed lamellar and prismatic. Shell structure gradually tended to be complex and the proportion of foliated and foliated increased with growth. Meanwhile, five kinds of mineral elements taken from the outer surface of shell were investigated. The results showed that the element content percentages of C, O, Na, Mg and Ca from “Ivory” strains of Patinopecten yessoensis and ordinary individuals were 24.26%, 60.44%, 0.63%, 0.48% and 14.18%, 18.24%, 56.48%, 0.52%, 0.36% and 24.41%, respectively.
