Abstract: |
The construction of the Haiyang Harbor and Haiyang Nuclear Power Station have had certain impacts on the distribution of suspended sediment in the adjacent waters. In this paper, using data measured near the Haiyang nuclear power plant in 2014, we built multiple inversion models of the surface suspended sediment concentration. Based on these inversion models, we chose several sets of Landsat ETM+/OLI images during the 2004-2017 period to compare and analyze the spatial and temporal distribution patterns of suspended sediment. The results show that the concentration of suspended sediment in the study area is higher in winter than in summer, and its distribution is affected by both river sediment transport and the dynamic marine conditions. The Dingzi estuary is an important source of suspended sediment. The interannual variation in the suspended sediment concentration is in good agreement with the project construction timeline in the study area. In the long term, the use of remote sensing technology to solve inverse problems of suspended sediment concentrations can reflect environmental changes in the sea area and the impacts of human engineering activities on the coast. Thus, we can gain a better understanding of environmental changes and provide data support and correlation analysis for the construction of many coastal projects. |
