台湾以东黑潮流量变异与冬季西北太平洋海洋-大气相互作用

摘要:
通过对历史资料进行奇异值分解、合成分析及相关分析,揭示了对应冬季台湾以东黑潮流量增强(减弱)时,西北太平洋海区异常失热(得热),北太平洋(北纬20°N以北)上空500hPa位势高度负异常(正异常);进一步证实了冬季西北太平洋海洋-大气相互作用是一个正反馈过程;发现了冬季台湾以东黑潮的暖平流作用可能是维持该正反馈过程进行的一个必要条件;通过超前和滞后相关及合成分析,提出从10月开始,台湾以东黑潮流量异常形成的暖平流作用会对冬季西北太平洋海区海洋-大气相互作用有贡献。

WINTER OCEAN-ATMOSPHERE INTERACTION IN THE NORTHWEST PACIFIC

Abstract:
Using the NCAR/NCEP reanalysis (1958–1999), COADS monthly data(1945–1993) and Kuroshio transport observation from various sources covering 1980–1997, we studied mainly the relationship between Kuroshio transport and ocean-atmosphere interaction in the area northeast of Taiwan in Northwest Pacific (NWP) during winter. First, we employed composite analysis to understand simple corresponding relationship between Z500 geopotential height difference in north hemisphere and net heat flux difference in NWP from large Kuroshio transport years to small Kuroshio transport years. When larger Kuroshio transport is very different from smaller Kuroshio transport in the period, the net heat in the NWP would be released to the atmosphere, resulting in the occurrence of large low-pressure anomaly in the areas from southeastern Japan to Aleutian. With singular value decomposition (SVD) analysis, we further confirmed that in winter the air-sea interaction in NWP releases net heat to the atmosphere, which corresponds to the low-pressure anomaly in NWP and high-pressure anomalies in Nei Mongol (Inner Mongolia) and in North America. In addition, the year of strong air-sea interaction in NWP largely corresponds to the year o f large Kuroshio transport. Having related the Kuroshio flux to the first principle component obtained with SVD using lead or lag correlation, we discovered that when Kuroshio transport lead by two months, it could best match the air-sea interaction in NWP in winter. In conclusion, we believe that that the Kuroshio plays an important role in winter air-sea interact ion in NWP for transporting heat. In other words, the warm advection of the Kuroshio in late fall sustains the winter air-sea interaction in NWP.
