| Abstract: |
| Prof. Zhou Miniang (M. Zhou) was born in Zhejiang Province on May 6, 1944. He joined the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS) after his graduation from the Biology Dept. of Fudan University, Shanghai in 1967. From 1984 to 1986, he studied in the Laboratory of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, Plymouth, England as a visiting scholar on “Accumulation and Transfer of Heavy Metals in Estuarine Animals”. In 1991, he went to Biologische Anstalt Helgoland, Germany to do cooperation research on “Red Tide Study” until 1992. In July 1995, Prof. Zhou was appointed Director of the Institute of Oceanology.
He has been engaged in marine environmental ecology and marine ecotoxicology for more than 20 years and had published 35 papers. He won an award from the Science Congress of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a Second Prize for National Science and Technology Progress from the State. Several students are under his supervision for master and doctor degrees.
He is active in professional organizations in both China and abroad, as the Chairman of the Aquatic Environment Association of China; ‘the Vice Chairman of the Marine Environment Association of China; Co-Chairman of the Working Group 8 of Marine Environmental Quality Committee, North Pacific Marie Science Organization PICES; The Member of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom: And the member of the International Union of Radioecology.
