Abstract: |
Metabolism of sea cucumber Apostichopus Japonicus was studied in laboratory from Feb.28 to Apr.11, 2000, under controlled conditions of ambient water temperature 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30℃ and salinity 31—32. We adopted the Winkle method and the hypobromite method to study the oxygen consumption rate( OCR ) and ammonia-N excretion rate( AER ) of three groups of A.japonicus [(17.3±5.5)g, medium size(52.1±12.9)g, (149.9±28.0)g, respectively]. The results were follows.
(1)The respiration d excretion rates of large- and medium-sized A.japonicus were remarkably changed around aestivation, while those of the small ones were slightly changed.
(2)Under controlled temperature 15—30℃, the regressive equation between the body weight of sea cucumber( W ) and oxygen consumption ( R ) can be described as R = aWb, the ranges of a and b were 0.011 6—0.043 6 and 0.947 5—1.312 3, respectively. In general, with temperature rise, the OCR of the three groups of sea cucumbers increases steadily, but temperature had slighter effect on the OCR of small A.japonicus than that of the other two groups.
(3)Under controlled temperature 10—30℃, the regressive equation A = aWb could describe the relationship between the body weight ( W ) of sea cucumber and the ammonta-N excretion (A), the mean of a and b were 4.941 0 and 0.772 4, respectively. The AER had an increasing trend with temperature rise, and it peaked at 20℃ for the large and medium sized A.japonicus, but at 25℃ for the small ones. |
