THE SPAWNING OF PERCH LATEOLABRAX JAPONICUS (CUVIER &. VALENCIENNES) IN BOHAI BAY

Abstract:

Perch Lateolabrax japonicus (Cuvier & Valenciennes) spawns from late August to October each year in a spawning ground between 117°40’ and 118°00’E at the ten metre bathymetric contour. The spawning first occurs at the east part of the bay, then shifts to the estuary mixed water area. The optimum surface temperature for spawning is 17.0-22.0℃, surface salinity 28.00-30.00‰.
