THE YZ-1 RADIOTELEMETERING WAVE BUOY |
|
Abstract: |
The working principle and structure of the YZ-1 radiotelemetering wave buoy is described in this paper. An acceleration meter is used as a wave sensor in the measurement system. Upon receiving an order from the reception station, the buoy will continuously transmits the relevant signals for 15 minutes. The measurable range is 0.3-10.0m for wave heights and 3.0-12.0s. for wave periods. The telemetering distance from reception station to the buoy is no less than 18km. Simultaneous field observation was made for comparison of the YZ-1 radiotelemetering wave buoy with the shipborne gravity-type wave meter ZC-1B. The spectra estimated from the two sets of records exhibits reasonable agreement, suggesting the buoy described here can serve the purpose of measuring ocean waves. |
