A STUDY OF RUST LAYER FORMED ON E₂ STEEL IN SALT ENVIRONMENT

Abstract:

The rust layer formed on E₂ steel in salt environment was investigated using optical mi-croseope, X-ray diffraction, electron probe etc. The analytical results show that the inter rust layer was mainly composed of a-FeOOH and that the corrosion resistance of E₂ steel was improved by the dense rust and the enrichment of alleging elements Al and Cr in the rust in-merlayer.
