THE INFLUENCE OF DENSITY OF SEAWATER ON THE DISCHARGE AND ADHERENCE OF MONOSPORES OF Porphyra yezoensis UEDA
Abstract:
The present paper deals with the influence of density of seawater on the discharge and adherence of monospores of P. yezoensis Ueda. Its main results are as follows: 1. The monospores can only be discharged under certain density of the seawater ranging from 1.010 to 1.030 kg/m3, and the optimum density for discharging monospores is about 1.020 kg/m3. 2. The density of seawater required for the adherence of monospores differs to a certain degree from that required for monospore discharge.
