DETERMINATION OF RECENT SEDIMENTATION RATES BY ²¹⁰Pb METHOD IN THE SOUTH CHINA SEA

Abstract:

Determination of recent sedimentation rates by ²¹⁰Pb method for sediment cores of K_8-3, K_22-4, K_31-1, and L_3-6 in South China Sea shows that the high rate of sedimentation is about 0.47 cm/yr and the low rate of sedimentation is about 0.19 cm/yr. The flux of sediment is from 0.26 to 0.51 g/cm²/yr. The sedimentary environments and the sedimentation in south China Sea are discussed.
