THE GALVANOTAXIS OF PENAEUS ORIENTALIS IN LOW FREQUENCY PULSE ELECTRIC FIELD
Abstract:
The galvanotaxis of Penaeus orientalis in low frequency pulse electric field is discussed in this paper. The experiment result shows that the galvanotaxis of Penaeus orientalis in unidirectional pulse electric field is cathodetaxis, opposed to that of fishes. The bouncing reaction threshold depends on the width of the pulse wave, and their relation cures are much similar to the strength-duration cures of nerve-muscle response. It indicates that the current stimulates the nerve and muscle directly. The Metapenaeus has the same cathodetaxis as the Penaeus orientalis.
