Abstract: |
Sea star outbreaks are ecological disasters that have resulted in tremendous losses to marine ecology and aquaculture-based economies, drawing significant attention. Currently, bottom trawling or diving and collection methods are predominantly employed in sea star investigation. However, they demonstrate extremely low levels of environmental protection and observation efficiency, indicating that an efficient and environmentally friendly approach is required urgently. This study examined the prevalence of Asterias amurensis in Jiaozhou Bay. Methods for estimating the biomass of individual sea stars based on their radii and monitoring methods using underwater in-situimages were established. Moreover, the in-situ distribution of A. amurensis in Jiaozhou Bay was obtained for the first time, providing a novel approach to monitoring and studying sea stars. |
